Product Bundling!

Lately, my shoppers have asked for me to bundle up items. I don't know why I hadn't thought of that before! I thank them for that great idea!

The items I plan to bundle up are my dino room decor. I will set up a listing for:

  • Three Photo Frames
  • Three 5x7in Dino Prints
  • Light Switch Plate
  • Four Drawer Knobs
... all for $75+$5 shipping (separately it would $81+$20shipping). Good deal, right? A complete dinosaur room. I'm working on finding ceiling fan chain pulls to decorate, thats next on my list!

Ceci n'est pas une binky.

I've had this idea floating around for quite a while now. I am glad to have it exit my "must paint" pile and enter the "painted!" folder. (I'm using lists for EVERYTHING, bear with me!)

Ceci n'est pas une binky (This is not a binky) is my homage to Rene Magritte's This is not a pipe painting. It took years of art school theory for me to fully understand and appreciate it. (yeah, years!)

Paintin' and a Blockin'

I've been kinda blocked lately! I guess since the craft fair (which was fun but exhausting!) I've allowed myself to take a break... now I can't come out of it! Ha! I've got some custom requests that will force me out for sure. Thanks to that! I'll post a few pictures I took of the my booth from the craft fair later (shared with Kaleidoscope Projector). Thanks for reading!

Lil' Frida Kahlo!

Lil' Frida Kahlo doesn't know this yet, but she will be such an influential Mexican artist. Her work will inspire many and she will become a world wide icon!

While brainstorming for this series (Lil' Artists), Frida Kahlo was on the top of my list! Her narrative art and powerful imagery has always had a special place in my art loving world. Her eyebrow also helped her to be one of the first artists I did. How could I not?!

Carrot Print Progress!

Since I secured a booth for the Holtville Carrot Carnival, I've been working on carrot art and crafts. Here's a few work in progress shots!:

My idea here is to have a carrot reading the paper and finding out there is a Carrot Carnival in Holtville! Then, it is imagining being crowned King of the Carrot Parade. Hey, who says veggies can't have dreams, right?!

Way to Gogh!

I'm done! I'm finished with my Kid Van Gogh print and I'm very happy with it. It was made from digital scratch, using my new drawing tablet. It was a new experience for me and, I gotta say, I liked it! It cannot compare to actually drawing on paper with a pen/pencil, but its working for me juuust right!

Kid Van Gogh was inspired by this self portrait on the right. I love the angles in his face and tried to conserve them as I worked on my drawing. It was hard for me to do, at first, but once I got the hang of the pen and tablet, the rest of the line work went smoothly! I really enjoyed this process because of the detailed, tiny, lines you can add using the pen. I lose a lot of that line work when I draw and scan my work to digitally color it Photoshop. Problem solved!

Here's Kid Van Gogh, the Minerva version...

Lil' Van Gogh Update

I'm so excited to be using the pen and tablet to draw! At first, I thought my drawings would look pretty generic, but the more I use the pen, the more I get the hang of it. Here are two versions of Lil' Van Gogh. One shows my "pen" drawing and the other with added color.

Oh, Santa!

So, my husband gave me a Wacom Bamboo drawing tablet for Christmas... yay! I have been doodle-in' and drawing on it, trying to get a feel for the pen and the tablet itself. I am loving it so far. I still need to get more adjusted to it but practice makes perfect!

I've been working on this project I've put on the back burner. Its boiling up now! I am making a kid Van Gogh. Here's my progress so far...

This all done using the tablet. Drawing from scratch. Isn't he precious! Kid Van Gogh, you're on your way to being finished! (and thats a good thing.)

Gettin' Ready.

In my town of Holtville, CA, there is a yearly parade/carnival/craft fair even in late January/early February knows as the Carrot Carnival. We celebrate everything carrot! At one time, we were known as the carrot capital of the world!

I Heart Kid Art is planning on hosting a booth alongside Kaleidoscope Projector, another local art crew. I am preparing some carrot theme art to sell alongside my prints. It should be fun! Stay tuned. We still have to purchase the booth, but that shall hopefully be done next week. Carrotastic!

Ideas

My ideas have been all over the place lately. Haven't been able to focus on one 100%, unfortunately. What's going on in my head now, you might ask? Cats. Yes, cats! Maybe I'll combine that with my Baby with Mustaches idea! That could turn out interesting! Hmm...

Mustache and Babies

Do they mix? Well, they do now! I've been obsessing over this idea for a few weeks now, but hadn't sat down to doodle and draw it yet. I finally did it! Yes, the babies look strange. Maybe even a little creepy. I can't help but love them! I've only worked on three so far: Charles, Willy, and Chuckles.

My next one needs to be a baby John Waters. His mustache is great! Little Johnny. Stay Tuned!
