Way to Gogh!

I'm done! I'm finished with my Kid Van Gogh print and I'm very happy with it. It was made from digital scratch, using my new drawing tablet. It was a new experience for me and, I gotta say, I liked it! It cannot compare to actually drawing on paper with a pen/pencil, but its working for me juuust right!

Kid Van Gogh was inspired by this self portrait on the right. I love the angles in his face and tried to conserve them as I worked on my drawing. It was hard for me to do, at first, but once I got the hang of the pen and tablet, the rest of the line work went smoothly! I really enjoyed this process because of the detailed, tiny, lines you can add using the pen. I lose a lot of that line work when I draw and scan my work to digitally color it Photoshop. Problem solved!

Lil' Van Gogh Update

I'm so excited to be using the pen and tablet to draw! At first, I thought my drawings would look pretty generic, but the more I use the pen, the more I get the hang of it. Here are two versions of Lil' Van Gogh. One shows my "pen" drawing and the other with added color.

Oh, Santa!

So, my husband gave me a Wacom Bamboo drawing tablet for Christmas... yay! I have been doodle-in' and drawing on it, trying to get a feel for the pen and the tablet itself. I am loving it so far. I still need to get more adjusted to it but practice makes perfect!

I've been working on this project I've put on the back burner. Its boiling up now! I am making a kid Van Gogh. Here's my progress so far...

This all done using the tablet. Drawing from scratch. Isn't he precious! Kid Van Gogh, you're on your way to being finished! (and thats a good thing.)

Gettin' Ready.

In my town of Holtville, CA, there is a yearly parade/carnival/craft fair even in late January/early February knows as the Carrot Carnival. We celebrate everything carrot! At one time, we were known as the carrot capital of the world!

I Heart Kid Art is planning on hosting a booth alongside Kaleidoscope Projector, another local art crew. I am preparing some carrot theme art to sell alongside my prints. It should be fun! Stay tuned. We still have to purchase the booth, but that shall hopefully be done next week. Carrotastic!

Ideas

My ideas have been all over the place lately. Haven't been able to focus on one 100%, unfortunately. What's going on in my head now, you might ask? Cats. Yes, cats! Maybe I'll combine that with my Baby with Mustaches idea! That could turn out interesting! Hmm...

Mustache and Babies

Do they mix? Well, they do now! I've been obsessing over this idea for a few weeks now, but hadn't sat down to doodle and draw it yet. I finally did it! Yes, the babies look strange. Maybe even a little creepy. I can't help but love them! I've only worked on three so far: Charles, Willy, and Chuckles.

My next one needs to be a baby John Waters. His mustache is great! Little Johnny. Stay Tuned!
